What is a MSIN (Mobile Subscription Identification Number)?

MSIN stands for Mobile Subscription Identification Number. It is a unique numeric code used to identify a mobile subscriber by a mobile network operator.

Consisting of maximum 10 digits the MSIN (sometimes referred to as the Mobile Subscriber Identification Number) is part of the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) number. The last 10 digits of the 15-digit long IMSI number are the MSIN.

Is the MSIN the same as the mobile phone number?

Although the MSIN can be derived from the subscriber’s mobile phone number, it Is not the same thing and, in some cases, can be completely different. For example, when a subscriber changes their phone number, they will keep the same MSIN number.
